This is the wound from a dog bite given to me gratis while I walked to town Friday. I’ll post a picture of the house in front of which it occurred. More later.

Oh, that looks painful! I hope it healed up well.
I’m an Ubuntu user new to Astoria. Can you recommend any good groups for non-programmers? I used to go to the Sunday Linux Clinic at Free Geek in Portland. Wondering if there is anything like that here and just generally looking to get connected to the open source community.
The wound has healed. At least on the outside, I’m all better. You know, we used to have a little group called aslug.net – the Astoria and Surroundings Linux Users’ Group. It just didn’t take off. I think it’s a great idea, though! Ideas could be exchanged. I love learning techniques and new programs from other users. I betcha some folks around here would like to get together. Maybe try asking around the bookstores, and the Fort George, and the Columbian Cafe. I would be happy to help out with a web site or something. I might even be able to get back ahold of the old aslug.net domain, although probably some domain-buyer guy is sitting on it since I stopped paying for the domain registration a few months ago.
I will keep asking around. Meanwhile, please send me a note at the hotmail address if you hear of any good events.
Do you know of any local computer fixit shops that are linux-friendly? Would be good to have that info in the rolodex before I need it.
